Guinness, the iconic brand renowned for its passion for football, curated an epic matchday event that unfolded at The Edge Convention Centre in Nairobi over the weekend.
Over 4,000 football fans were treated to a matchday experience where every little detail had been curated just for them. An abundance of screens, including three mega screens, meant no one missed a moment of the action, cosy seating kept everyone comfortable throughout the games, and an array of snack options paired with perfectly chilled Guinness created the ultimate football atmosphere at the Guinness Matchday. This matchday was genuinely made for the fans and by the fans, as Guinness collaborated with some of Kenya’s most passionate football fans to bring this to life.
The Guinness Committee, led by The Chairman, G Money, ensured the fans’ voice was at the centre of this next-level live football viewing experience. Matchday Optics officer Zuhum worked with Guinness to transform The Edge Convention Centre into a football haven, complete with multiple display screens, including three mega screens for a real-time, immersive viewing experience, complemented by a multi-directional audio system that enveloped attendees in the sonic ambience of a live stadium.
Director of Drinks Analysis Carol Radull was on hand (and even behind the bar) to ensure that all fans got their Guinness at the perfectly chilled temperature, while Chief Snacks Officer Nana Owiti sampled and picked out the perfect snack options to be enjoyed with a Guinness. Soft-life Ambassador Eli Mwenda ensured fans got comfortable seating, dedicated booths for their groups, and headphones for those who wanted to catch commentary from different games on different screens.
Guinness Marketing Manager Henrietta Reed reiterated the brand’s commitment to football fandom and facilitating experiences that enable fans to rally behind their teams like never before.
“Guinness shares in our football fans’ love for the game, which inspired the epic matchday experience we created this weekend. It was amazing seeing football fans coming together to rally behind their favourite teams and enjoy the space we carefully created for them with the help of our Guinness Matchday committee. Our fans got to enjoy some beautiful matchday moments together this last weekend, and we are committed to doing even more of this, so watch out for what’s to come next on our brand pages,” said Ms. Reed.
Fans were treated to an electric atmosphere after the match thanks to chief Chief Vibes Officer Mukami Wambora and Chief Entertainment Officer Lotan Salapei, who selected the ultimate lineup of artists and DJs, including Bien Aime and Fena Gitu with DJs CNG, Dream, Pskratch, Protege and Sir M keeping fans on the groove. Sauti Sol’s Bien delivered the perfect ending to the weekend with a charged performance of hit tracks from a Kenyan boy band, his new album, and a surprise appearance by Bensoul.
