Letter to President Uhuru – Our country is sinking

BY NDINDI NYORO

“Mr President, let me address you just to clear my mind. I know you can’t get time to read all our updates but at least it has become a therapy to many of us.

Mr President, when you see many Kenyans and especially Kikuyus smiling around you, let no one fool you. That’s just an insidious act.

Many people have lost hope Mr President. It’s no longer fashionable to do real activities that create jobs and push our Economy forward. No one aspires to start a manufacturing company. It’s no longer an aspiration of many young ones to become Engineers. It’s no longer the in thing to study those courses that our country needs most.

Mr. Ndindi Nyoro

Young Kenyans only aspire to be rich. The culture has shown them it’s possible to steal and only use a fraction of that to buy freedom and live fabulously thereafter. Who would aspire to do the real work in such a culture?

People are unhappy with your Government, Mr President. Our banks are sacking, media houses are sacking, basically all sectors of our Economy are hit and in distress. You are a businessman yourself and need no telling.

Mr President, you are likely to experience voter apathy in your strongholds, not because people hate you but because they don’t care. Poverty and frustration make a bad combination. The number one enemy we have as a country is corruption.

Mr President, we as Kenyans have given you the powers to use any means possible. Just deal deal with this thing!.. When terrorists take hostage our institutions and shopping malls, we don’t resort to courts or investigations. We deal with them as they come.

You can’t keep preaching the language of peace to barbarians who only understand war. Mr President, the fellows stealing in your government are worse than terrorists. At least no terrorist has ever targeted our maternity wards – these fellows have!

These fellows Mr President will ruin your legacy if you don’t hit hard, coldly and swiftly. We don’t remember the heads of courts, DPP or even CID. All that people remember is what the regime of a President did. During the other regimes, it used to be “kitu kidogo”, now they’re stealing everything.

Mr President, use all measures and methods to redeem our country. We know you mean well. Seek to be feared more than loved. I wish you well as you make hard choices.”
