ACMK and MRM bridge the gap between Theory and Practice with Student Competition

Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM), a leading manufacturer of Building Solutions and a member of the Safal Group® in partnership with the Association of Construction Managers of Kenya, launched the annual student competition to upskill students to gain relevant sector skills.

The ACMK Students’ Competition aims to engage Construction Management Students across Kenyan universities by challenging them to apply knowledge acquired academically to solving real-time project issues.

MRM has long been committed to supporting education and innovation in construction.

“We believe in the potential of the next generation of construction professionals, and this competition will enable them to showcase projects that have used sustainable innovation, including MRM’s building solutions.”

The competition is a transformative experience that enriches students’ education and prepares them for the challenges and opportunities of the construction industry, helping them utilize the skills learned to become more well-rounded and capable professionals.

The competition aligns with ACMK’s mission to elevate Kenya’s construction and project management standards. By partnering with MRM, ACMK is taking a proactive step to prepare the next generation of construction managers for the challenges and opportunities of the industry.

The Competition represents a significant step towards enhancing the educational experience of construction management students while fostering collaboration between academia and the construction industry.

ACMK holds this competition annually to contribute to the student’s body of knowledge and bridge the gap between class theory and practical experience. The winners will win;

  • 1st Position – Kshs 30,000 + 1st Position Certificate for each group member
  • 2nd Position – Kshs 20,000 + 2nd Position Certificate for each group member
  • 3rd Position – Kshs 15,000 + 3rd Position Certificate for each group member
  • All other participants from the remaining successful entries – Certificate of

Participation

The competition is open to students at the University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta University, Technical University of Kenya, and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University.
