We often link green tea with weight loss but, this wonder drink is also beneficial in preventing cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and even cancer. Actually, no! Drinking tea after meals can be bad as it can obstruct the absorption of essential nutrients in the digestive system. It is true that the antioxidants and polyphenols present in green tea can aid the digestion process but if you drink it immediately after your meals, the nutrients won’t be absorbed properly as the tannins and caffeine would act as hindrance indigestion. It will also dilute the digestive juices which will result in indigestion.

When should you drink green tea?

If you want to drink green tea after meals, you can have it 30-45 minutes after finishing your meal. However, the best time to drink green tea for getting maximum benefits is two hours before or after your meals.

So, enjoy your cup of tea at the recommended time to get the most out of it!
