Omanga Accuses Sakaja of Harassment as Kanjo Askaris Raid Her Business, Threaten to Arrest Her

Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga has accused Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja of misusing his powers after her business was raided.

In an update on X, Omanga alleged that the governor sent a bus full of county employees to raid her business and apprehend her.

The politician mentioned that the harassment stems from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party elections where she has chosen to support other candidates other than Sakaja.

“Governor Johnson Sakaja has sent a bus load of over forty county askaris to my business premises to arrest me and my staff simply because I’m not supporting him for the Nairobi County UDA chairperson,” Omanga wrote on X.

Following the incident, Omanga noted that she won’t be intimidated and coerced into supporting Sakaja in the UDA chairmanship bid.

Meanwhile, Sakaja recently told off critics of his bid for the UDA Chairmanship in Nairobi, directly addressing opposition and internal party dynamics.

Speaking to over 7,000 UDA grassroots delegates, he emphasized his determination to remain undeterred by those opposing his candidacy.

Sakaja underscored the importance of strengthening the UDA in Nairobi to secure more seats in the upcoming elections compared to the last cycle.

In a bold move, he called out UDA Deputy Party Leader, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of bullying leaders within the ruling coalition.

“Huwezi kuwa you are bullying people for two years, then unatajwa wiki moja unaanza kulia. Do you know bullies are the biggest cowards?

“Mpaka unaenda sijui kwa msitu, sijui wapi…if you want respect, respect other leaders. If you don’t respect those leaders, then respect the people who put them there,” Sakaja said.

Sakaja went on to dare Gachagua to run for the Nairobi County governorship seat in the 2027 elections if he does not respect his capacity as an elected official.

“I’ve been through a lot and I’m not easily intimidated, nobody has the right to say I was given the seat. I was elected. In 2027, you are free to run for any elective post, run and be Nairobi Governor,” he added.

Sakaja’s remarks follow a perceived fight between Gachagua and President William Ruto over allegations that some of the President’s allies from his Rift Valley backyard were undermining the DP’s capacity.

Speaking in Kesses, Gachagua revealed that the said Ruto’s allies were already holding meetings in the Mt. Kenya region to craft 2032 succession politics to his disadvantage.

“The problem is a few leaders here from this region who have proximity to the President ndio wanakoroga siasa ya huko kwetu kudanganya watu eti waaanze kupanga mambo ya 2032,” he said.
