Comedian Timothy Kimani, also known as Njugush, has come to the rescue of Abel Mutua following sexual harassment claims.
In an interview, the comedian noted that the video was shared by malicious people who had the intention of tarnishing Mutua’s name.
Njugush argued that the events described in the video were more about Freddie, the role he was playing on Tahidi High and not himself as Mutua.
“If the full video had been posted, it would have made it easier for people to understand what Abel meant. Anyone who watched Tahidi High knows the relationship between Tanya and OJ was real,” Njugush explained.
As earlier reported, Mutua found himself on the receiving end over sexual harassment claims while working at Royal Media Services.
In an interview with the Mic Cheque Podcast, Mutua sparked mixed reactions after disclosing how he kissed actress Sarah Hassan on set.
He noted that through the filming season, Hassan was self preservative and chilled compared to other actresses, adding that he altered the script to include an intimate scene with her.
It was in the final episode of the show when Mutua claims that he kissed Hassan.
“The very second last scene of our episode, we kissed while filming a scene in the classroom,” Mutua said.
The claims sparked mixed reactions on social media with some siding with Mutua while others sympathised with actresses in the film industry.

Njugush and Mutua are known to be close friends, making it obvious why the comedian would come forward to clear his friend’s name from sexual harassment claims.
In a past interview, Njugush and his wife, Celestine Ndinda, spoke on their relationship with Mutua and his wife had been rock solid even before they came into the limelight.
“If my mother starts singing and becomes famous and I too begin singing and also shine will we be enemies, really? There is something enshrined within us that is bigger than celebrity status. Something that is bringing you close together,” Njugush said.
Njugush also noted that Mutua’s wife worked as his manager for three years.
“She was working in a big media station and we asked her to help us get an online manager. She enquired what work the manager would be doing and I explained. The next day she asked us whether we could go for a meeting to meet up with the manager. We were so excited and agreed. Little did we know she was the manager
“When we started working together, she became her own brand and people started approaching her. On the other hand, Abel has started doing his ‘Mkurugenzi’ shows and is attracting some fans. When a fly becomes serious it starts making honey. So Abel needed support and Judy had to go to help her hubby out,” the comedian said.
