Musician Kevin Kioko, widely known as Bahati, and his wife, Diana Marua, have disclosed how much the production of their reality show, The Bahati’s Empire, cost.
Speaking during a recent event, the musician disclosed that producing the first season of the show cost them at least Ksh 47 million.
However, Bahati noted that this was a modest amount compared to how much they are projecting the second season will cost.
“This was the first season, the cost of production was Ksh 47 million… Season 2 we are looking at going a notch higher, maybe Ksh 100 million,” he said.
Accompanied by his wife, the musician asked fans to watch the show on Netflix and ignore other things around it including the cost of production.
“Don’t talk about the expense, talk about the entertainment,” Bahati added.
Prezzo Suffers a Seizure During Bahati’s Reality Show Launch
This comes just days after Diana shared how they had their show stream on Netflix.
Speaking during the show’s launch at Westwood Hotel in Nairobi, Diana noted that it was by God’s grace that they got to have their show on the platform.
“This is a project we worked on for the last 7 months ago, and I’d say fortunately, I’d say God’s plan, Netflix reached out to us on Monday evening and told us that the show is going to be airing in four days,” she shared.
Diana also explained that they hurriedly announced the premier of the show rather than taking time to market it because circumstances forced them to do so.
“There was a lot that caught us in surprise, we thought we could be given enough time at least to create a mega launch so that we could be able to share the good news with the world, but this is where we are
“Tulisema ni sawa and decided we were going to call a few people who mean everything to us in our hearts to come and celebrate this moment with us, so we’ve really tried to turn around everything within two days and have all of you here to come and support this big dream. I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she explained.
Diana also noted that the idea behind the reality show was to inspire their fans.
Local celebrities who made cameos in the reality show include DK Kwenye Beat, Mr Seed, Size 8 and DJ Mo, Milly and Kabi Wa Jesus, Terrence Creative and Milly Chebby among others.
