Kabarnet High School in Baringo County will not compete in secondary school games until 2027, following a three-year ban for fielding ineligible players.
In a stunning revelation, four athletes who appeared for the school during the Rift Valley games were not pupils, resulting in the severe punishment.
Following a dispute brought by Rift Valley competitors St Joseph’s Kitale and Laiser Schools, it was stated that the school employed two alumni, a Board of Management (BOM) instructor and an unidentified individual.
The accused were unable to offer any proof that they were pupils at the school, which strengthened the case for St Joseph’s Kitale and Laiser Hill.

To add to the punishment, Kabarnet High School’s team manager has been suspended for four years for overseeing the illegality, which resulted in the institution losing its Baringo County Secondary School football title.
Kabartonjo have thus been proclaimed the new Baringo county champions, but will not compete in the current games, with Rift Valley Secondary School Games authorities planning to write them a letter of apology.
Following Kabarne’s suspension, Arnesens Boys’ High School will meet Laiser Hill in the regional boys’ football quarterfinals.
