Kenya Police FC has made headlines with their recent signing of Tusker FC goalkeeper, Patrick Matasi. The move has caused the team to shift their focus away from Farouk Shikalo, who they had previously shown interest in.
Matasi is known for his impressive performances in the Kenyan Premier League and was also a member of the Harambee Stars squad that played in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
In other transfer news, Derrick Otanga has signed with Kenya Police FC despite interest from Gor Mahia and Tusker FC. Meanwhile, defender Simon Abuko has joined Sofapaka after leaving Kakamega Homeboyz. Kenyan defenders Clyde Senaji and Collins Okumu have also signed one-year deals with Nyasa Big Bullets of Malawi.
Former Kakamega Homeboyz defender Norman Ogola is set to rejoin Mathare United, while Sofapaka captain Titus Achesa is expected to re-sign with Posta Rangers. Gor Mahia’s transfer ban remains in place, but the club is hoping to have their new recruits registered before the end of the month. This will also enable the youth team, which fielded seven players in a recent league match against Dandora, to recruit new players. Tusker FC is still interested in Geoffrey Ojunga and Michael Oduor Lumumba, but deals for Nzoia Sugar FC duo Kevin Juma and Joseph Mwangi now appear unlikely.
Ulinzi Stars have offered Kenyan international Kevin Juma an opportunity to join the military, while Bidco United has decided not to sign any players during the mid-season transfer window. Coach Anthony Akhulia had previously expressed interest in getting at least one central defender but has since shelved the plan. Finally, FC Talanta is showing interest in Vihiga Bullets captain, Lucas Waitere.
