Comedian Fred Omondi has died.
Fred is the younger brother of Eric Omondi, a comedian who has recently become an activist
According to reports, the deceased died on Friday evening at Mama Lucy Hospital in Nairobi as a result of a vehicle accident.
News of his passing was shared by comedian Terence Creative who remembered moments they shared together as upcoming comedians.
“Fred I thank God for the time He gave us together bro, you’ve been part of my career and growth in the industry ,you always treated me as a brother and hosted me when I had no where to go, gave me a stage and paid me, together we started club comedy shows
“I will always treasure the moment we shared the stage together from Tribeka, Taj Mall, Hearts, I club till we got to Churchill show and then to hosting our first Tv show together KTN Crazy Comedy .Together we suffered, together we learned and together we inspired, made people laugh and created great memories. Go well bro,” he wrote.
In 2012, Fred escaped death by a whisker after he was accosted by armed robbers in Woodley Estate, Nairobi.
According to The Standard, he was coming from a gig at the wee hours of the morning when he was confronted by a gang of six men who pointed guns at his car forcing him to stop.
“They stood in the middle of the road pointing at my car with their guns, but I wasn’t going to stop after all the horror stories I’ve heard of people getting carjacked on that same road,” said Fred.
However, Fred sped off as the crew shot at his car.
“They shot thrice but only two bullets hit the car. I’m very lucky that no bullet came at me,” he added.
He put up with Eric for three days before his new employer, The Standard Group, moved him from Woodly Estate for security reasons.
“I never stepped back to my place especially after I heard from the security guards that some people came looking for me. I even had friends move me out,” explained Fred.
