Former National Bank of Kenya (NBK) CEO Munir Ahmed was arrested on Thursday night at the JKIA as he tried to flee the country.

Mr. Munir Ahmed is set to be arraigned in court this morning facing fraud among other charges. He was sacked in April from the bank over claims of financial malpractices.

According to sources, the police were tipped that Munir Ahmed was at the JKIA attempting to free the country without the intention of coming back. They followed the tip and arrested him.

Mr. Ahmed spent Thursday night at Kilimani police station cells as his friends tried to have him released on bond in vain.

Ahmed and five other managers were sacked after the bank made bad losses.

Police said charges against the other managers are also ready and they would soon appear in court.
