A police officer Nickson Kiprono, was the victim of a tragic accident that happened just near the General Service Unit (GSU) training school along the Eastern bypass.
Reports first published by Citizen Digital stated that the Thursday, December 26 incident happened at around 2 a.m.
Officer Kiprono was allegedly hit by a motorist identified as Jackeline Nduku Nzioko who was driving from the Embakasi barracks and heading towards Utawala.
According to initial reports, the 35-year-old officer sustained visible injuries to his right leg as well as his head upon impact.
He was swiftly rushed to Nairobi West Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The late Kiprono was reportedly stationed at the Shauri Moyo Police Station, Nairobi.
In a similar incident that took place on December 2, 2019, a police rider died after he was knocked down by a speeding motorist ferrying contraband alcohol from Uganda.
The officer died at the scene of the accident on Busia-Kisumu highway, near Sidindi shopping center, Ugunja Sub-county Police Commander Ibrahim Muchuma disclosed.
Mr Muchuma went on to reveal that the late officer was hit from behind by the driver of a Toyota Probox, registration KCW 105J.
More than 3,000 people have perished in road accidents this year, according to NTSA and the Kenya Police Service.
