Armed Men Raid Bus Full of Passengers During Night Journey

A Jinja, Uganda-bound bus was reportedly raided on Thursday morning, November 9, at around 2 am.

According to an eyewitness, armed men raided the bus at Ugunja in Siaya County, terrorizing the passengers who were traveling from Nairobi.

Reports alleged that the gang of nearly five walked into the bus after it stopped at the crime scene.

The armed men proceeded to snatch personal items from the passengers as they watched in horror.

Among the items that were stolen were phones and bags, whose total worth was yet to be ascertained.

In videos shared by the victims, the driver headed to Ugunja Police Station, where they filed a report at nearly 3 am before leaving for Jinja.

Police and the long-distance bus company have yet to respond to the incident. It was also yet to be clear whether police launched an investigation into the case.

In June this year, Al Shabaab militants stopped a bus in Wajir and allegedly searched for non-locals, according to a police report.

Detectives added that all 55 passengers, who were locals traveling to Mandera, escaped unharmed.

According to eyewitnesses, the gang of nearly 15 armed men opened fire to scare the passengers, who were then ordered to alight.

However, no items were stolen from the passengers or the bus crew. The driver, after being released, proceeded to Tarbaj Police Station, where he filed a report.
