Akothee: Without money, my private parts would have suffered

Celebrated Kenyan musician and entrepreneur Esther Akoth Kokeyo, better known as Akothee, has recently opened up about the challenges she has faced in her music career. The self-proclaimed President of Single Mothers shared that the music industry is especially tough and unforgiving for women. “If they are not stealing from you, they are manipulating you. If they are not manipulating you, they are sleeping with you. And that’s why you see very few female artists. It’s tough out there,” she lamented.

The mother of six emphasized that having her own money saved her from being exploited and sexually abused. “Music has shown me all characters of human nature. If I didn’t have money as a female artist, my private parts would have suffered. I would have dropped music and maybe contracted diseases,” she added.
