On July 26, 2024, Dr. Erick Rutto, President of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), announced that Nairobi will host the first World Chambers Federation (WCF) Africa Summit in June 2025. This decision, shared by WCF Chair Mr. M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, is a significant achievement for Kenya and Africa.
“This prestigious event is a landmark achievement for Kenya and KNCCI,” said Dr. Rutto. “The selection followed a highly competitive bidding process, where we stood out over several formidable contesters. Our successful bid is a testament to the robust efforts of KNCCI and the unwavering support of our partners.”
The WCF Africa Summit will be a transformative platform for commerce and industry across Africa. Historically, the WCF has organized influential summits worldwide, and this will be the first time the event is held in Africa. The Summit will bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators to foster dialogue, collaboration, and economic growth.
“We anticipate that the Summit will attract over 4,500 participants from around the globe, including key stakeholders from various sectors,” Dr. Rutto highlighted. “This gathering will signal to the world our confidence in Kenya as a regional hub and the strength of our private sector.”
The Summit will underscore Kenya’s critical role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and cement its position as a key investment destination. Hosting this event will draw investors and create opportunities for trade and partnerships, significantly boosting Kenya’s tourism and hospitality sectors.
“Hosting the WCF Africa Summit is a monumental opportunity for Kenya,” Dr. Rutto emphasized. “It will enhance Kenya’s reputation as a vibrant and innovative economy, capable of hosting global events of such magnitude.”
KNCCI is committed to ensuring the success of the Summit through collaboration with various stakeholders. “We will partner with the government, private sector, regional blocs, and the international community to create a platform that addresses pressing business issues and explores new growth opportunities,” Dr. Rutto stated.
Reflecting on the journey to this achievement, Dr. Rutto credited KNCCI’s rich global network and dedicated trade missions. “This Summit aligns perfectly with our agenda to promote economic development, facilitate trade, and foster a conducive business environment in Kenya and Africa at large.”
