Safaricom Foundation ommissions shs3.5m ICT lab at Wiyumiririe Technical Centre

Safaricom Foundation handed over a newly constructed and furnished KES 3.5 million ICT lab at Wiyumiririe Technical and Vocational Training Centre in Wiyumiririe, Laikipia County.

The digital hub equipped with computers, a printer, a projector, and other equipment is set to integrate and streamline training at the institution. The acquisition of digital skills will add value to the technical courses being offered at the college, including motor vehicle engineering, garment making, and hospitality.

“The establishment of this ICT hub is part of our strategy to improve education at Technical and Vocational Training Institutes. We have invested in TVET in counties such as Nairobi, Isiolo and Marsabit. We expect this particular project to upskill students at this  Centre at the same time empowering instructors to teach using technology to improve learning outcomes.” said Joseph Ogutu, Chairman, Safaricom Foundation.

Earlier this week, Safaricom Foundation also handed over maternity equipment worth KES 500,000 to Pesi Dispensary in Laikipia West in an effort to boost maternal health services.

Since inception, Safaricom through its Foundations has invested KES 322 million in education, health and economic empowerment projects in Laikipia County. The projects have benefitted over 451,000 people in the county.
