Willy Kirwa is a prosperous dairy farmer from Kapsaret, Eldoret, and the region’s largest milk supplier.
Despite dropping out of school in Form Two, he has managed to change his life and become an award-winning farmer.
Kirwa began his agricultural career with maize and wheat production for almost 10 years before transitioning to dairy farming, where he owns a herd of high-yielding dairy cows.
In an interview, he stated that he did study and traveled to Israel and the United States to learn more about dairy farming before launching his own.
Kirwa is constantly improving his cow breeds, which he claims takes time, and it has taken him twenty years to get the present breeds, which produce between 38 and 42 litres of milk each day.
He was inspired to breed after visiting Israel and discovering that, despite the fact that it was a desert nation, there was plenty of milk.

To improve the breed of a cow who produces 10 liters per day, Kirwa searches for a bull whose mother generates twenty litres.
By 2022, he was producing approximately 450 litres of milk each day, which he marketed to schools, hotels, and milk processors.
Kirwa also offers pedigree heifers to farmers in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
He also built a Ksh 300,000 spray race to treat East Coast Fever, lowering his monthly costs from Ksh 50,000 to Ksh 12,000.
Kirwa also grows protein-rich grasses, namely boma rhodes and lucerne, which helps to reduce feed expenditures.
Growing some of his feeds allows him to save approximately Ksh 1500 per 70kg.
Kirwa feeds the animals based on their milk production – those that produce less milk get fewer feeds than their contemporaries.
Additionally, he provides training to anyone interested in getting into the company at his Willens Practical Training Centre.
