Former Citizen TV anchor Willis Raburu has quit his position as Chairperson of the Nairobi Festival Committee, a position he landed in July this.
In a statement, the former 10 over 10 host noted that he had already handed in his resignation to Johnson Sakaja who had appointed him.
“This morning, I have officially informed the leadership of the county that I will no longer be serving in my current capacity as Chair of the Nairobi Festival Committee,” read the statement in part.
“It has been an honor to work alongside Governor Sakaja and his administration, and I would like to express my deep gratitude for the trust and opportunity that they have extended to me during my time here.”
The former entertainment journalist further noted that his departure was necessitated by the need for systemic change but failed to offer specific areas that need change.
“However, this decision is driven by a recognition of the pressing need for systemic change to enhance the effectiveness of our service delivery and leadership,” he added.
” It is clear that to better serve the county and its residents, a more comprehensive look at existing systems is essential, which to be fair, have already been instituted and I wish them all the best in this regard.”
The outspoken journalist further indicated that his support for the county’s activities was still intact albeit from a different vantage point.
“I firmly believe that with the right structural adjustments and a collective commitment to positive change, we can pave the way for a brighter future. My hope is that this decision will serve as a catalyst for the necessary transformation that our county deserves,” he explained.
In the new role that Raburu assumed in mid-July, the former news anchor worked closely with the county’s governor insisting that he was committed to doing good for the county’s youth.
