Why Angry Hussein Mohammed, Morara Kebaso Clashed on Live TV

On Wednesday evening, State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed refuted allegations made by activist Morara Kebaso, who claimed that President William Ruto had contacted him and extended a job offer.

During an appearance on Citizen TV, Hussein expressed his astonishment at Morara’s assertion, labeling it as ‘unbelievable’ that he would make such a statement on national television.

He firmly maintained that no such communication took place, characterizing Morara’s remarks as a product of his ‘imagination.’

“I am shocked at what Morara is saying. I wonder why he would lie on national TV that the President called him. It’s ridiculous that I have to respond to this but let me do it because you Jeff let it happen on TV

“For the record, such a call never happened. It is a statement of his imagination,” Hussein said in a live call during the show.

Morara, who has been at the forefront of an anti-government campaign and has been scrutinizing both active and halted projects initiated by the government, stated that President Ruto reached out to him.

He chose not to disclose the specifics of their conversation, only mentioning that he was presented with a job offer, which he ultimately declined.

“Initially I had calls from people around the President. Then eventually I got a call from the President. I spoke to him very respectfully because he is our President and he has been given that mandate by the people. Whatever I was offered I refused. I was offered a state position. Serikali ni kubwa,” Morara said.

Hussein additionally criticized Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange for permitting Morara to present assertions without demanding evidence.

He emphasized that the JKLive host ought to have employed the terms ‘alleged’ or ‘claims’ rather than simply accepting Morara’s statements at face value.

“What is more shocking Jeff is that you can allow anyone to come on TV and tell you such a thing without demanding any proof or substantiation and you just buy it. All you should have done and said is those are his words or alleged claims from him, not just accept and say the president called him. Anybody can say that. Many people say that,” Hussein said.

He added;

“A lot of Kenyans have the President’s number by the way. Let Morara substantiate that the President called him. He is lying. Will you allow anybody in Kenya to just walk into your studios and say he was called by the President and you just believe it? How can he prove it?”
