What is the harsh truth of life?

This is something my friend shared with me.

In her company, once her manager during their free time decided to play a game with all.

He gave a paper with five options to chose from, to everyone in the room.

The question was: ‘Which truth would you be most interested in knowing?’

The five options were:

Knowing about how your professional life would be in 10 years?’

‘Knowing about how successful you would as a parent in the coming years?’

‘Knowing about whether your future would be troublesome or easy, and in what ways?’

‘Knowing about how would you die?’

‘Knowing about if you would be able to earn enough money in the near future?’

Almost everyone chose the 4th option, ‘Knowing about how would you die?’

After the manager opened everyone’s answer he smiled and let everyone know the common reply.

He later asked, ‘Why would you want to know how would you die?’

Every person had the same reply to this, ‘To avoid it.’

A guy said that if he knows that he would die in an accident, he would never drive or sit with someone in a vehicle!

My friend later said to me that the discussion scared her. Just thinking about ‘not existing anymore’ made her uncomfortable.

Their discussion later moved to how to utilize and live in the present moment.

But, it surely rang a bell in the minds of everyone, the harsh reality of life: We all will die sooner or later.

Most of the time, we tend to ignore this truth by thinking that ‘It happens to other people.’

It’s like a parrot who has closed his eyes seeing a cat in front of its eye, thinking that the cat too won’t see it now!

While reading this take a moment to realize that you might have only one decade, two decades, or 3–4 decades to live if by God’s grace you live longer. And did you just notice that the last decade passed by so quickly?

So, what are you up to? Don’t go abeyant waiting for a perfect life!

Make that dish.

Express your feelings.

Go on holiday.

Watch that movie.

Call your parents.

The time is now!

P.S: Here is something I have already used, ‘Abeyant’ which means ‘Inactive’ or ‘Suspended’.
