Earlier reports suggested that Wazito FC, a Kenyan football club, had appointed Ugandan coach Paul Nkata as their new head coach.
However, the club’s chairman, Moses Adagala, has now clarified that Nkata’s role is that of a technical director and not the head coach.
“People are always quick to run with unconfirmed news. We never appointed Nkata as our head coach; that information did not come from our club. Nkata’s role is that of a technical director; he’s experienced, and I think the young technical bench that we have assembled will benefit from his guidance,” Adagala told Mozzart sports.
Adagala has also shed more light on Nkata’s appointment, stating that the veteran coach’s experience would be invaluable in guiding the young technical bench that the club has assembled.
The chairman’s remarks come amid reports that Muhoroni Youth, another Kenyan football club, was allegedly warned by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Integrity Department against having Nkata in their technical bench.
Meanwhile, Adagala is confident that his newly appointed coach charles Odera, who has experience coaching various teams including Chemelil Sugar U20, Chemelil Sugar as an interim coach, and Muhoroni Youth FC, has the skills necessary to lead Wazito FC out of the relegation zone.
Adagala speaks highly of Odera’s abilities, having seen him do an excellent job with APS Bomet, leading them to finish at the top of the league standings. Adagala knows Odera personally, and he is confident that the team will perform well under his leadership, as they will provide him with all the necessary support.
