Vincy Wairimu: Entrepreneur Who Went on to Establish Successful Cleaning Business After 4 Failed Ventures

Following the loss of her work, Vincy Wairimu began producing snacks, specifically homemade samosas, mandazis, smokies and eggs, which she sold in the evenings on her home estate.

The savings from this business were used to launch a mitumba women’ apparel store that sold blouses, innerwear, tights and skirts which she later closed down.

Additionally, Wairimu used to own a kibanda but it was later shut down by county officials.

Following this ordeal, her acquaintance introduced her to the e-book business.

“I was reluctant since I didn’t know how to trust clients to pay, but it paid off in the end. I used to sell abroad, which is how I earned my first bucks

“The hustles lasted six months to a year and helped acquire funds for her next venture and current services firm. I started Vinjosh Cleaning Services after the pandemic hit,” she explained.

The company is three years old and provides upholstery cleaning, commercial and residential cleaning, as well as pest control services.

“My target clients are anyone who owns a house, or residential areas but I am packaging myself into commercial cleaning though I have some clients,” she said.

After six months of marketing, Wairimu’s first client came from social media, and social media continues to be her most important source of clients.

She markets on sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok aside for referrals that she receives.

“My everyday problems include attracting devoted personnel. The other problem is getting potential clients to commit to bookings. Some people are uncomfortable with making a commitment or deposit

“When a client is dissatisfied with their services, they agree to either refund a portion of the money or have the task redone,” she said.

Wairimu noted that she does not regret her decision and believes that when someone leaves a job to pursue a business opportunity, it is because they have realized their full potential elsewhere.

“Not everyone is cut for employment and they may be dissatisfied as they look for an exit plan,” she stated.
