Thika Sports Club set to host 230 golfers for third leg of 2025 KCB East Africa Golf Tour

A field of 230 golfers are set to grace the third leg of the 2025 KCB East Africa Golf Tour, which will be held at the par 72 Thika Sports Club golf course this coming weekend.

The 2025 tour, which returns after a month-long break, has so far been held at the Royal Sports Club for the opening leg and the Mombasa Sports Club subsequently, with both legs being played in February. The return of the tour promises a lot of action on Saturday with golfers battling to secure a slot in the grand finale to be held in December 2025.

KCB Group Director Marketing and Citizenship Rosalind Gichuru said, “This year, we are targeting 30 legs, 6 more than what we hosted last year. We are aiming to reach out to more golfers while at the same time growing the sport in the country.”

The first team on the course on Saturday is set to tee off from 6 am to 9 am, while the second team tees off from 11 am to 2 pm. On Sunday, KCB will host a golf clinic for kids as well as a tree-planting session in line with the bank’s sustainability agenda.

In the last two legs, a team of Andrew Gathere, Simon Mwangi, Joseph King’ola, and Oscar Koitaba were named the overall winners of the first leg of the 2025 Tour at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club, while Gitonga, Taib,  Mariga and Kinyeru were named the overall team winners in the Mombasa 9-hole course. The two became the first to book a slot in the grand finale.

The grand finale winning team is set to win a cash prize of KShs. 1 million and an opportunity to participate in a prestigious golf tournament, to be communicated later. This cash prize will be directed to funding a sustainability project at their home clubs.
