Minet Kenya emerges a top winner at 2025 Think Business Insurance Awards

Minet Kenya was among the leading winners at the 15th Edition of the Think Business Insurance Awards held on Friday, July 4, 2025, in Nairobi.  The ceremony brought together the country’s top insurance providers, brokers, and industry innovators, with Minet taking home a total of seven awards.

Among the accolades were General Broker of the Year, Most Customer Centric Broker, and Best in Ecosystem Partnership & Cross-Industry Collaboration. Minet was also named Corporate Broker of the Year, while placing 1st Runner-Up in the categories of Medical Broker of the Year, Personal Lines Broker, and Overall Broker of the Year.

Speaking after the awards, Minet Kenya’s CEO, Sammy Muthui, said: “We are deeply honoured to receive these recognitions, which really reflect the dedication and passion of our teams. These awards affirm the trust our clients continue to place in us and highlight the value of the strong, collaborative partnerships we have built over time. Every achievement we celebrate today is the result of shared vision and a belief in what we can accomplish together.”

The wins come at a pivotal moment for the insurance industry in Kenya, which continues to face challenges around access, innovation, and market penetration. As of 2023, Kenya’s insurance penetration stood at just 2.34%, according to the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), pointing to a largely underserved population and untapped opportunities, particularly in rural and informal sectors.

Minet works to bridge this gap through an ecosystem approach that enables it to respond to emerging risks more proactively. The firm has worked across diverse sectors to design insurance products that meet the evolving needs of individuals and organisations. This is particularly important at a time when traditional insurance models are being tested by new and complex risk environments.

“The nature of risk is evolving faster than ever before, forcing us to find ways of dealing with emerging challenges such as climate shocks and cyber threats. Kenya now needs both coverage and foresight, and that is why we have built an ecosystem that moves with the world, not behind it,” said Judith Atieno, the Head of Customer experience at Minet Kenya.
