Terryanne Chebet: Journalist Shares Success Story of Lucrative Skincare Company

Renowned journalist Terryanne Chebet is the visionary behind Keyara Botanics, a skincare brand dedicated to creating natural products from locally sourced raw materials.

In an interview with the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), the former Citizen TV news anchor revealed that her entrepreneurial journey began following her daughter’s diagnosis of eczema.

Eczema is a dermatological condition characterized by inflamed, itchy, cracked, and rough patches of skin, which may also present with blisters.

Chebet articulated that her motivation for establishing Keyara was to seek remedies for her daughter and to assist other mothers whose children are facing similar challenges.

Initially, she operated without a physical storefront, storing her products in the trunk of her car.

“I started Keyara Botanics from the boot of my car saying that there may be other mothers who want the same products and the same solution for their children,” she said.

Shortly thereafter, she took an additional initiative by establishing a website dedicated to the sale of her products.

The company provides nationwide delivery services, ensuring that orders within Nairobi are delivered within 24 hours, while those outside Nairobi are delivered within 48 hours.

Their product line features a variety of natural items crafted from the finest oils, butters, and fragrances.

This includes Shea Butter sourced from Northern Uganda, Cocoa Butter from Ghana, Coconut Oil from Kenya, Marula Oil from both South Africa and Kenya, as well as Argan Oil from Morocco.

“It is time the world begins to see the other side of Africa. Some of the world’s most luxurious skincare brands source their premium oils from Africa, but we, Africans, are left to only export raw materials and rarely benefit from the opportunities in value addition,” she said during the launch of the company.

They sell their products at GoodLife pharmacies, Mimosa pharmacies, MedWorld, Nipambe Cosmetics and Linton’s Beauty World among other places.
