In a shocking incident captured on CCTV, a stray lion was seen invading a private residence at Nazarene Estate in Rongai, Nairobi, in the dead of night. The chilling footage shows the lion effortlessly jumping over the gate and entering the premises before attacking and killing the family dog.
The homeowners, who were asleep during the terrifying invasion, woke up to the horrifying scene after reviewing their security footage. The video shows the lion exiting the residence with the dog firmly in its jaws, leaving the family in a state of shock and grief.
This incident is part of a growing pattern of stray lion sightings in Rongai, raising concerns among residents. Just last week, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) issued a warning about three lions on the loose in the Langata area. According to KWS, the lions were allegedly sighted near Langata Women’s Prison, prompting an immediate and thorough search by the KWS Problem Animal Control team. Despite their efforts, no lions were found, leaving the community on edge.
“Last evening, Kenya Wildlife Service received reports of three lions allegedly sighted near Langata Women’s Prison in Nairobi,” stated the KWS in a press release. “Despite their efforts, no lions were found. KWS continues to monitor the situation closely and remains on high alert. Ensuring the safety of the public is our top priority.”
