Mburu and Team Win KCB Golf Series at Sigona Golf Club

Patrick Mburu G.G Nganga, Ngahu Njoroge, and T.S Channa returned a combined score of 113 points to emerge as the overall team winners of the 11th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the Sigona Golf Club on Wednesday.

The team will join other teams from Nairobi, Mombasa, Kakamega, Nandi, Nyeri, Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Nakuru, Kiambu, and Burundi who have already booked their slots in the tour’s grand finale slated for December 6, 2024.

“We are elated to be crowned as the overall team winners of the competitive KCB golf series. The amateur tournament brought together a huge field of golfers from around Nairobi who badly wanted to get an opportunity to represent this club at the grand finale. As winners, we know that we have a huge coming up and we are up for the challenge,” noted Mburu after the win.

Handicap 17 golfer Pritesh Patel was named the overall winner of the competition after carding 42 Stableford points in the tourney that featured over 150 golfers at the lush 18-hole course, beating Jimmy Muthundo, handicap 22 who carded 40 Stableford points to clinch the men’s winner award.

Rachel Ndei who plays off handicap 11 returned 38 points to be crowned as the overall lady winner while David Karanja who plays off handicap 29 returned the same points to emerge as the division two winner.

Allan Kirui, handicap 25, also carded 38 Stableford points to claim the staff winner award that saw the regular winner Scola Onsongo dethroned from her crown. Handicap 33 Peter Ndichu returned 37 points to be the guest winner.

While Pratik Sangrajka, who plays off handicap 11 was named the second nine winner, handicap 3, Ronak Malde claimed the first nine award with a similar score.

The 24-leg amateur series is set to traverse twenty counties in Kenya and four countries in the East African region – Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, and Tanzania in a bid to elevate the sport to an elite level.

Additionally, the series will headline 3000 participants and 1500 juniors through the golf clinics that run concurrently with the tour, underscoring the Bank’s commitment to expanding the game.
