Shabana FC causes uproar by raising ticket prices for crucial Bosongo Derby match

Shabana FC, the Nation Super League (NSL) leader, has explained the reason for the increase in ticket prices for the upcoming match against Gusii FC.

The tickets will go for Ksh 300 and Ksh 100 for VIP and regular, respectively.

In a statement, the Club’s Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama noted that expenses to facilitate the match weren’t like any other match, hence the slightly higher prices.

The match is scheduled for Saturday, February 18, at the Gusii Stadium, locally known as the Bosongo Derby. Kerama acknowledged that any form of Derby has its own uniqueness, which includes arrangements, attendance, and the game itself. As such, the Club needed to increase the ticket prices to cater for the match’s unique expenses.

“Team, in summary in any form of Derby, the arrangement, attendance and even the game itself has its own uniqueness.

“Expenses to facilitate the match ain’t just like any other match. The reason why we will charge slightly higher than our normal matches,” Elizaphan Kerama noted.

Gusii FC heads into the match with a win over Kibera BlackStars, positioning the club fourth with 18 points. Unfortunately, the team is mourning the death of its chairman, Nyandoro Kambi, who passed away on Friday, February 10.

Shabana FC tops the NSL log standings with 25 points, four points ahead of the second-placed Murang’a SEAL. The Kissi-based team hopes to get promoted to the FKF Premier League as NSL champions. Runners-up also automatically join the top-tier league.
