Celebrated media personality Olive Burrows is set to make her highly anticipated debut on Citizen TV this Saturday, June 1st, 2024. Burrows, who was recently poached from NTV, is stepping into the role previously held by Victoria Rubadiri on the Citizen Weekend team.
In her new role, Burrows will be paired with veteran news anchor Jeff Koinange. Together, they will host the Citizen Weekend and Sunday Live primetime show, bringing their combined expertise and charisma to the screens of millions of Kenyans.

Speaking on her new assignment, Burrows expressed her excitement about joining Royal Media Services. “I am incredibly honored to have joined the team. They have received me with open arms. And as iron sharpens iron, I look forward to a season of growth,” she said.
Burrows is known for her commitment to promoting good governance and accountability through her journalism. She emphasized that viewers can expect comprehensive coverage of global events with a distinct Kenyan perspective. “As a journalist, I’m keen to promote good governance and accountability with my news reports, and on Citizen Weekend you can expect to get the Kenyan perspective on global events. And if there’s anything the Covid pandemic taught us, it’s that we are never far removed from places we once thought were far removed from our part of the world,” Burrows added in an interview with Citizen Digital.
Olive Burrows’ past
Before joining Citizen TV, Burrows spent six years at Nation Media Group, where she also worked at Capital FM and NTV as a news reader. Reflecting on her time at Nation Media Group, Burrows shared, “I love you guys. It has been an absolute privilege working here at the Nation Media Group for the last six years. They took a chance on me, and it has paid off, not just careerwise but also the friendships, and we remain comrades in arms because this craft we are in together for the greater good of Kenyans.”

On the other hand, award-winning media personality Victoria Rubadiri recently made her debut on Cable News Network (CNN) after leaving Citizen TV on May 3rd, 2024. Rubadiri joined CNN International for a new role on its long-running multiplatform series Connecting Africa and as part of the network’s newsgathering operation in Nairobi.
“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to work at CNN and to bring my experience and passion to its global audience. Connecting Africa champions the people, projects, and companies revolutionizing African business and I’m looking forward to working alongside Eleni and the team to get out on the ground and tell these stories,” Rubadiri said.

Rubadiri’s career is marked by notable achievements, including her winning the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award in 2020 for her exceptional talent in telling African stories. She has reunited with her former colleague at NTV, Larry Madowo, and continues to make significant strides in her journalism career.
