Police reveal how they lost track of man who confessed to killing wife on social media

The story of Evans Kosgei and Jackline Kimaiyo is a haunting tale of love turned sour, culminating in a tragic double fatality that has left a community reeling in shock and grief.

At first glance, they appeared to be an ordinary couple, bound by the bonds of marriage and commitment. Yet, beneath the facade of normalcy, their relationship was crumbling.

It all began with Kosgei’s distressing rants on social media, where he publicly accused his wife of infidelity and betrayal.

His posts painted a picture of marital discord, alleging Kimaiyo’s involvement with multiple men behind his back.

As the accusations grew more fervent, the divide between them widened, creating an atmosphere of tension and distrust.

The situation took a chilling turn when Kimaiyo went missing on March 7, failing to report to work at Itundu Secondary School.

Concerned colleagues launched a search, only to discover her lifeless body in her own home.

Police quickly identified Kosgei as the prime suspect.

Wesley Kitienei, the Criminal Investigations Officer (SCIO) for Mathira East Sub County, revealed to The Standard that Kosgei’s mobile phone was traced to Mt Kenya Forest, close to the school’s vicinity situated at the base of the forest.

Around 3:00 p.m. the same day, there was a change in his location, marked by the activation of his phone, which was then subsequently powered off.

Later on, he was tracked to Thika on Sunday evening, just a day before the discovery of his body hanging from a tree.
