Pancras Karema is the founder and CEO of Expeditions Maasai Safaris, a top tour operator and tourist firm in Kenya.
He was born and raised in Laikipia and completed his secondary studies at Ontilili High School before enrolling at the University of Nairobi.
Karema chose to study Tourism and Political Science at the University of Namibia because he enjoys traveling.
He later came up with the idea to start a tour firm while attending UON as he enjoyed traveling throughout high school and even more once he joined campus, where he organized trips.
“We used to go out in the same way that you would carpool with your buddies and transport them somewhere
“But since you have something unique, you are passionate about what you do; you do it so well that the next time your friends ask you to plan another one,” he said.
After graduating from university, Karema formed a partnership with a buddy to start a tour company.
In an interview with Capital FM, he stated that his company success is due to his planning abilities developed while still a university student.
Their breakthrough occurred in 2016, two years after establishing Expeditions Maasai Safaris, when they won the SOMA prize.

Following the triumph, more businesses came their way, including a Ksh 5 million agreement from a large client.
“When you address the demands of your clientele, they become brand ambassadors. That is how we were able to grow,” he explained.
In 2018, the company received the Company of the Year Award, followed by the Most Promising Founder of the Year in 2020.
Expeditions Maasai Safaris is a fully licensed tour operator through the Kenyan Ministry of Tourism.
The tour firm provides safaris to a variety of places, including Maasai Mara, Nairobi National Park, Amboseli National Park, Tsavo East National Park, Tsavo West National Park and Lake Naivasha National Park.
They also provide hotel reservations, airport and SGR transfers, aircraft tickets, car and tour van rentals, and SGR booking.
Expeditions Maasai Safaris has won several notable honors, including SOMA honors 2016, Social Media Organization of the Year 2017, SME of the Year 2019/2020, and Leading SME in Tourism & Hospitality for the Year 2019/2020.
