Kenyan TikToker Roseline Otieno, popularly known as Nyako recently clinched the prestigious Comic Content Creator of the Year award at the 2024 Marwa Music Awards.
The event was held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) on Monday, March 11.
Nyako’s comedic talent has long been recognized by her audience, and her win at the Marwa Music Awards is a testament to her growing influence and popularity.
In response to Nyako’s achievement, her brother, known simply as Wajakoyah, expressed his surprise during an interview with local media at the awards ceremony. Reflecting on Nyako’s comedic nature since childhood, Wajakoyah admitted his astonishment at her win, emphasizing her innate humor and the impact it has had on her fans.
“This award I can’t say much about it because I dont know what the organisers realised in my sister…She’s such a comical lady all along from her childhood. For this category, I can’t say much about it because for me it is a surprise,” he said.
The Marwa Music Awards, established to celebrate and uplift talented artists within the Luo community, attracted a star-studded crowd, including dignitaries, artists, and content creators from across the region.
Notable attendees included Ida Odinga, wife of Raila Odinga, and Ezekiel Mutua, head of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK).
The evening was filled with music, laughter, and celebration, with comedian Oga Obinna guiding the proceedings.
Nyako’s manager, Chinedu, who attended the event, praised her leadership qualities and philanthropic spirit, portraying her as an exemplary boss. He emphasized her gradual ascent to success and expressed confidence in her continued trajectory, both within Kenya and internationally.
