Mtumba Man claims he was beaten up by his girlfriend

Kenyan content creator Sande Mayua, popularly known as Mtumba Man has opened up about alleged domestic abuse experiences at the hands of his girlfriend.

In a series of Instagram posts, he revealed that he initially hesitated to speak out due to societal expectations and concerns about his public image.

He explained that societal stereotypes often portray men as strong and impervious to suffering, making it difficult for him to share his painful experiences.

Stereotypes

The comedian expressed the sentiment that many would not understand his predicament, instead choosing to either laugh or sympathize while perpetuating harmful stereotypes.

Going through hell but you can’t talk about it because society believes men are strong and can overcome every situation. Only God can listen to me because most of you will listen, laugh, sympathize, make content out of it, and these problems will continue.

Tired, I swear, I am tired. God, please. There will come a day when I’ll be no more just because I am too good to people around me. I was raised well, but humans can change you,” he wrote.

Mtumba Man also thanked Oga Obinna for always standing beside him during his dark times noting that Obinna was always there no matter how busy he was.

Oga Obinna help

“After knives, nails, teeth, and damage to property at home, this guy Oga Obinna is always there for me. Bro, God bless you; he pulled up with a lot of energy and time. I am blessed to have such people around me,” Mtumba Man added.

To dispel any misunderstandings, he posted a video featuring his girlfriend and clarified that Oga Obinna was not responsible for the abuse but had provided support as a caring friend.

“Yes, she is the one, not Oga Obinna. I see everyone asking if his girlfriend is Oga. He just came through for a brother. What matters right now is my health, both physical and mental. I leave the rest to God because when I went to the police station, the best they could do was to laugh at me, asking, ‘How can a man be beaten by a woman?’ You’ll all be saying that until you see someone six feet under,” Mtumba Man asserted.
