MP John ‘KJ’ Kiarie Apologizes to Gen Z as Pressure Increases

Dagoretti South MP John ‘KJ’ Kiarie is the latest member of parliament to apologize for making unsubstantiated comments regarding the ongoing anti-Finance Bill rallies.

The MP, who began his career as a comedian, issued a handwritten apology on Monday, stating that he regretted his feelings about the protests as well as the validity of certain photographs.

KJ added that his accusations that some images and videos from protests were fake were made in the heat of the moment.

“I’m sincerely sorry for any provocation, hurt or affront that my words may have caused. I have definitely learnt alot from this and also from all the active listening I have done since,” he said.

KJ who claimed to be a photo expert on the House floor last week, condemning the protests as phony and fueled in large part by fake, digitally altered photos, today praises Gen-Z for embracing novel avenues to push for change, such as social media.

The MP, who claims to have been a part of movements calling for social justice and good governance, recognises the significance of vigilance and popular activism for a better Kenya.

KJ joins a growing list of Kenya Kwanza government allies who have been forced to taste humble pie baked by themselves.
