In their bid to fight match-fixing that has crippled the FKF Premier League in recent past, Football Kenya Federation has suspended departing Nairobi City Stars duo of Ezekiel Odera and Salim Abdallah.
In a statement released by the Federation on Tuesday, the two have a date with their integrity department as they continue with their investigation in their involvement with match manipulation.
“As part of ongoing efforts to protect the integrity of the FKF Leagues and Competitions, Football Kenya Federation has provisionally suspended two individuals pending investigations into their alleged involvement in match manipulation.
“The two, Ezekiel Odera and Salim Abdallah are set to appear before the FKF Integrity Department for a thorough inquiry into the matter. During this period of suspension, all FKF members are advised to avoid any form of sporting contact with the aforementioned individuals,” FKF said in part.
City Stars hit the headlines earlier in the year after a Russian and a Ugandan were among a trio that was nabbed by policemen as they were planning to fix a particular game with players from the team. The trio was however released later after paying Sh 200000 each.
Odera and Abdalla had been released by City Stars after their contracts elapsed last month and City Stars reported them to the Federation after an internal investigation.
