Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool from Uganda, on Wednesday threatened to sue Airtel Uganda if the telecommunications company does not compensate him with a sum of 200 million Ugandan Shillings for the loss of data which he claims affected his business phone’s Zoom network.
The singer, who has given Airtel 21 days to pay for the damages, spent Ash Wednesday in a somber mood.
While lovers awaited rose flowers, Bebe Cool only wanted to hear from Airtel after deciding to act as his own lawyer in serving telecommunications giants with the intention of suing.
“This unethical data shortage disrupted my crucial Zoom business meeting which was scheduled that very night, and as a result, I had to incur travel expenses for myself and my team for a physical meeting in Lagos, Nigeria,” Bebe Cool said regarding the data issues.
The singer states that on January 16, around 9:56 PM, he “entered into a preliminary payment agreement” with Airtel for the purchase of monthly data bundles of 22GB valued at 50,000 Shillings.
Although acknowledging that the depletion of data bundles on a phone depends on the customer’s usage, he found it unreasonable that his data package could run out so quickly.
“At around four in the night, I opened my TikTok app for approximately five minutes, during which its browsing file did not exceed 300MB, and immediately I put my phone on charge in preparation for my anticipated business meeting via Zoom,” he complained.
