Kisumu Man Stabs Brother To Death Over Land Dispute, Several Houses Burnt Down

Police in Kisumu West sub-county are on the trail of a man who stabbed to death his brother following a fight arising from a land dispute in Chulaimbo village.
Ogolla Olang’o is reported to have stabbed his brother twice near his heart on Tuesday evening after which he was rushed to Chulaimbo Sub-County Hospital.

North East Kisumu location chief Martin Oindo confirmed the incident saying the deceased was later transferred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) as a result of heavy bleeding but he unfortunately succumbed to the stab wounds at the facility.

Chief Oindi said the suspect, Olang’o, who also suffered a cut wound during the commotion was treated at Chulaimbo but later escaped after noticing his brother was in critical condition.

Oundi noted that a group of suspected hired goons from Kisumu later descended on the home on a revenge mission after the incident and burnt down three houses.

He says it took the intervention of Anti-riot officers from Maseno police station to calm the situation where they engaged the youths in running battles and have now secured the home and evacuated to safety the brothers’ mother.

The chief said the family has been embroiled in a land tussle for a while and that his office has often intervened to seek a peaceful solution prior to the incident.
