Kagwe Mungai, Sharon Mwangi Announce their Break-up

Musician Kagwe Mungai and content creator Sharon Mwangi have announced their break-up, over a year after they started dating.

In an update on their respective Instagram pages, the two shared a lengthy statement to announce that they are going separate ways.

The statement read;

“You’ve been a part of our journey, and for that, we’re incredibly grateful. We want to be transparent with you all even though sharing this publicly feels a little cringe. We know how easily facts can be misconstrued, so know that anything you hear or read elsewhere is likely fiction or assumptions

“The truth is, we’ve decided to lovingly separate as a couple. Our journey together has been extraordinary, filled with deep love and affection. The love we have for each other remains, but it’s taking a beautiful new shape, a chance for each of us to blossom on our own paths.”

It further stated,

“There’s no negativity here. Think of it as two best friends recognizing it’s time for individual space to pursue our most fulfilling lives.

“We won’t be engaging in further discussions on this and we deeply appreciate your understanding and respect for our privacy. Thank you to everyone who supported, prayed and rooted for us.”

Sharon and Kagwe have been in a relationship since May 2023.

Speaking in an episode on her podcast, Sharon confessed that Kagwe ghosted her several times before taking her seriously.

“The first time I ever met you, you were seated alone on a Saturday in a restaurant just drinking a beet, enjoying yourself. The second time I met you again you were just in a club, alone on the dance floor having the time of your life,” Sharon said.

Kagwe also recalled how they kept meeting from time to time before he finally decided to ask her to be his girlfriend.

“You kept bumping into me when I was by myself, we never had a one-on-one conversation. I went to a party once and met you there, and was like this babe is looking cute, let us go say what’s up, and we talked for a while,” he said.

However, Kagwe defended himself telling her that he wanted to do things differently as compared to his previous relationships.

“It wasn’t necessarily ghosting it was a version of ghosting but it wasn’t ghosting, it should just show you that when I’m focused on a person my focus doesn’t fade

“I feel like we’ve been intentional, sober throughout it all and then obviously I pulled out all the stops, you have to make sure that if you are going to romance these ladies you have to bring romance,” he said.
