KCB RFC Head Coach Curtis Olago has said his team will not take anything to chance when his side takes on Kabras Sugar this weekend in a Kenya Cup fixture at the Kakamega Showground.
The bankers will battle it out for bragging rights with their arch-rivals following match day ten results which saw second-placed KCB suffer their first loss of the regular season in the hands of Menengai Oilers.
A bonus win for the Thika-Road side under the tutelage of gaffer Curtis Olago will not be enough to secure the top position as the playoffs edge closer. As it stands, KCB is perched second on 44 points.
“Kabras have been imperious throughout the season, and they always bring out the best in us. We need to work on our errors against the Oilers to ensure that we play well against the Kakamega side. We must tick all our boxes going into the weekend’s clash,” noted Coach Curtis Olago.
Olago is likely to make a few changes in the starting lineup, with an unchanged front three of the experienced Oscar Simiyu, youngster Wilhite Mususi as props with Captain Griffin Musila starting at hook.
18-year-old Andycole Omollo, who is having a stellar breakout season, is expected to start at lock pairing up with veteran Davies Chenge. Other expected inclusions in the forwards will be backrows Peter Waitere and Felix Ojoo.
At position nine, we expect to see veteran Michael Wanjala slot in for rookie Emmanuel Opondo bringing in the much-needed experience while Kenya Simba’s Brian Wahinya expected to start at ten.
In midfield we will most likely see a center pairing of Bob Muhati at twelve and Festus Shiasi moving back to thirteen while Utility back Darwin Mukidza tipped to be back after missing the Oilers clash. Austin Sikutwa and Lionel Ajeliti expected to complete the back three pairing.
KCB is set to face Menengai Oilers in the semifinals of the current Kenya Cup season at the den later this month.
