Joyce wa Gituro, a former radio presenter has revealed the challenges her marriage faced and the reasons that led to her separation from her husband.
The broadcaster explained that she tried to endure the hardships they were going through, but eventually, she couldn’t take it anymore, deciding to leave her husband.
In an interview with a radio station on Thursday, Gituro also claimed that she had attempted to be involved in a dark religion but “I was saved by the grace of God.”
Some of the radio stations where she has worked include Radio Citizen, Milele FM, and Radio Jambo.
“In that church, the pastor would give strange ‘prophecies’ about me. He would describe the difficulties that would befall me in the future. At one point, he predicted that I would have an accident with my child. These prophecies started to make me anxious. I asked my husband about the church,” said Gituro.
“I withdrew along with my children after participating for two months,” she added.
She continued: “After continuing to ask him more intimate questions about the church, he started running away from home. He would escape in the evenings for ‘prayers’ at the church and return in the morning. I tried as much as I could. I even called his parents to try to save him and get him out of that church, but all efforts were in vain.”
Gituro said she believes God sent her to that church to see the real situation.
She said she doesn’t know what her fate would have been if she hadn’t accepted the call to go and see the situation for herself.
She urged Kenyans to be cautious about the kind of churches they join, as some are dark religions with the aim of misleading and tormenting people.
“There have been many cases of people being blinded by their religions. My call to them is to open their eyes so as not to be drawn into darkness from which they cannot free themselves,” she said.
