As the founder of Jamric Shipping, Jane Mureithi has transformed her vision into reality, establishing a prosperous consignment yard along Mwiki Road.
Her business primarily focuses on shipping various household goods from Belgium to Kenya, catering to the demands of a loyal clientele eager to access their favorite items upon the arrival of containers at her yard.
Jane’s entrepreneurial spirit knows no bounds, as evidenced by her expansion efforts that have seen her managing additional yards in Nyeri County and Kondele in Kisumu County.
Through astute observation, she has identified household items such as utensils and shoes as the most sought-after commodities among Kenyan customers, particularly during the summer season.
To ensure she meets her customers’ demands effectively, Jane goes the extra mile by offering preorders.
Her journey to success was inspired by personal experiences abroad, where she observed the superior quality and durability of appliances purchased overseas compared to those available in Kenya.
This realization ignited the spark for establishing Jamric Shipping, thus addressing the growing demand for high-quality goods from abroad.
Despite encountering numerous challenges along the way, including navigating the complexities of operating a business in a foreign country, Jane’s unwavering work ethic and passion have remained unwavering.
In Belgium, Jane experienced a society where both men and women were expected to perform tasks regardless of gender, fostering a strong work ethic within her. \
This ethos continues to shape her approach to business, where she emphasizes the significance of honesty and integrity in all her dealings.
Jane firmly believes that cutting corners would only lead to detrimental consequences for her business and reputation, a principle that has earned her the trust and loyalty of her customers over the years.
“Living abroad imenifundisha kufanya kazi, heavy jobs. Hapa hakuna kazi ya mwanamke na mwanaume. Because we have gender equality. Kama ni bill ni nyinyi wawili mnalipa so I work extra hard…You do everything with your own hands. There are no househelps. It’s different from home because at home you have people around,” she said.
