How DCI Detectives Arrested Suspect in Sh3.9M Eastleigh Robbery, Tracked Down & Apprehended While Buying a Car in Mombasa

A suspect linked to the daring robbery in Eastleigh, where a man was fatally shot and 3.9 million shillings stolen, has been apprehended.

The arrest took place in the coastal city of Mombasa, where the suspect was allegedly attempting to purchase a car using money believed to be part of the stolen cash from the March 30, 2024, incident.

Authorities, who had been monitoring the suspect’s movements from the capital to Mombasa, seized the individual, who had been identified at the crime scene.

The suspect was subsequently brought back to Nairobi for further investigation, while efforts to track down other perpetrators of the crime continue.

Although details regarding the recovery of any stolen cash were not confirmed by the police, the arrest signifies a significant breakthrough in the case.

The robbery incident, captured by security cameras on Muratina Street, involved a gunman on a motorcycle intercepting 26-year-old Adan Ali Mohamed, who was riding as a pillion passenger on another motorcycle.

Despite Adan’s hesitation, the gunman fired at close range, fatally injuring him and fleeing with the cash.

Medical reports indicated that the victim suffered spinal cord injuries due to the gunshot.

Starehe police boss Fred Abuga emphasized the importance of enhanced surveillance in the area to aid investigations and deter such crimes in the future. Additionally, detectives are exploring the possibility of insider involvement in the robbery.
