Kakamega Homeboyz and Gor Mahia played out to a one-all draw in a league match staged at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Sunday.
Heading into the game, both sides had won their last assignments. Homeboyz beat Tusker 2-1 at Bukhungu, while Gor mauled the Nairobi City Stars 4-1 in Kasarani.
Gor Mahia got off to a dream start when Benson Omala fired them ahead in the 10th in what proved to be a largely even first half full of challenges that spilled over to the technical area at some point, resulting in the temporary halting of the game. The first half ended with the visitors holding the slim lead.
Seven minutes into the second stanza, new signing Shami Kibwana drew his side level in his first game for the club since he rejoined the Kakamega-based side from Tusker FC. None of the sides could find the winner, and in the end, they shared the spoils.
At the Ruaraka grounds, the Nairobi City Stars staged a comeback to pick their first win of the season with a 2-1 triumph over Nzoia Sugar, and in the process, condemned the Millers to their first defeat of the campaign.
Emmanuel Osoro gave Nzoia an eighth-minute lead before City Stars replied after the international through Kelvin Etemesi and Rowland Makati in the 50th and 62nd minutes, respectively.
At St. Sebastien Park in Murang’a, Murang’a Seal suffered a second consecutive league defeat after going down 1-0 to Posta Rangers; the result also saw Posta reclaim the leadership of the log. Patrick Otieno scored the all-important goal in the 59th minute.
At the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Ulinzi Stars found the back of the net 11 minutes from time to beat Sofapaka 1-0 and register their first points of the season after losing three games in a row. Boniface Muchiri‘s superb free-kick settled the hotly contested clash.
At the Moi Kasarani Stadium, KCB FC and Bandari FC played out a barren draw.
