High Court judge David Majanja has passed away.
Majanja, who is also a member of the Judicial Service Commission, died on Wednesday evening, July 10, in Nairobi Hospital.
According to sources within the judiciary, Justice Majanja died following surgery.
The procedure is claimed to have been effective, but his condition worsened subsequently, terminating in death.
Justice Majanja was appointed a High Court Judge in 2011.
He has worked at the Homa Bay, Migori, Kisumu, and Kisii High Courts. He has also held positions in the Commercial and Tax Divisions, as well as the Milimani High Court Civil Division.

Justice Majanja earned a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in International Trade and Investment Law in Africa from the University of Pretoria in 2005.
He earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi in 1996.
The High Court Judge held a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya Kenya School of Law. He was admitted to the Bar in 1998.
Chief Justice Martha Koome issued a state following Justice Majanja’s passing, mourning him as a towering figure in the development of the JSC and the Judiciary.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Judiciary and JSC fraternity during this time of deep sorrow and sadness
“Justice Majanja will be remembered as a towering figure in the development of our transformative post-2010 jurisprudence and a crucial pillar in the institution-building of the JSC and the Judiciary
“We stand in solidarity with the family, friends, and the entire Judiciary and JSC community during this very difficult period of mourning.
“The Judiciary and JSC family call for sensitivity and compassion as we come to terms with this sudden loss and share in grief with one another and with the people of Kenya,” she wrote on X.
