Elsa Kiprotich: The Charcoal Seller Who Rose to Top of US Real Estate

Elsa Kiprotich, a middle-aged woman living in Houston Texas, has recalled how she rose from a charcoal seller in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, to a real estate agent in the United States.

Speaking on Chams Media TV, she narrated her upbringing, indicating that she came from a humble background in Eldoret. Her family managed to raise fees to take her through education from primary to university level.

After graduating from Kenya Methodist University with a degree in Business Management in 2011, she began selling charcoal to earn a living.

A few months later, Kiprotich scaled her business from selling outside their home to providing delivery services to local hotels across the town.

According to the entrepreneur, this enabled her to gain business skills that would come in handy in the future.

One year later, she successfully applied for an academic scholarship to further her studies with a Masters in Business Administration at the University of West Georgia in the United States.

Upon graduation, she ventured into selling life insurance to soldiers in Georgia, an opportunity which led to her meeting her future husband.

After two years, she relocated to Houston, Texas and became the lead of H-Town Royal Group – a real estate group that offers residential and commercial real estate services.

“Since after high school, I noticed my passion with helping people and how happy I became once they had their needs fulfilled,” she said.

Kiprotich has since practised for over six years in the real estate agent sector, indicating that the seasonal nature of the job proves to be quite the challenge.

“I have learned to appreciate what life brings whether small like creating and maintaining new friendships with strangers to greater things like being part of military family and having to experience what true sacrifice is having my own husband serve in the military,” she added.

Kiprotich indicated that the majority of her clientele are Kenyans residing in Houston. Currently, she has connected over 100 Kenyans to residential properties in the state.
