Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro has recently opened up about his unexpected removal as chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, expressing that he wasn’t given any reasons for the decision.
During a press briefing in Nairobi on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Nyoro shared that even though he’s been ousted, he holds no ill will towards anyone. He stressed that feelings of revenge, anger, and hatred don’t contribute positively to leadership.
“I don’t respond to evil with evil. I also believe that anger and hatred are too heavy a burden for any leader to carry,” he remarked.
Nyoro, who is currently in his second term in Parliament, mentioned that no one has reached out to him about his removal from this significant committee. “I don’t know why I was replaced as chair of the Budget Committee. No one has ever called me to ask about my position,” he said.
His removal is part of a broader reshuffle in Parliament that has seen several allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua lose their key leadership roles. Nyoro has been succeeded by Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, who is affiliated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Reports indicate that Nyoro’s ousting may be tied to concerns over budget allocations, with claims that he was favoring his Kiharu constituency. Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah had previously called out some MPs for leveraging their committee roles for personal or regional gain.
When it comes to his relationship with President William Ruto, Nyoro revealed that their last political conversation happened before October 2024. He chose not to delve into personal matters but expressed his gratitude to Kenyans for the opportunity to serve.
Despite the recent changes, Nyoro didn’t disclose his next political steps, simply stating that he remains committed to serving his constituents.
