Amos Rono, a resident of Bomet whose wedding was abruptly canceled by his fiancee Nelly just days before the scheduled ceremony, is now gearing up for an overseas journey, marking what seems to be a fresh start in his life.
The unfolding developments in Amos’s life were captured by Lemiso Media House, which shared a post on Facebook chronicling his visit to Nyayo House, where he successfully obtained a passport.
The passport acquisition process was facilitated by Nelly Tonui, an Immigration Officer and Amos’s former fiancee.
The touching moment was witnessed by friends Sitonik and Eunice, who stood by Amos during what appeared to be a challenging period in his life.
Amos’s resilience in the face of heartbreak had previously garnered attention. After the cancellation of his wedding, Bonfire Adventures, a travel and tours company, stepped in to sponsor him on a four-day coastal trip, providing a brief reprieve from the emotional turmoil he was going through.
Governor Erick Mutai of Kericho also extended support to Amos by inviting him to his office for a “man-to-man talk.” Governor Mutai, in a social media post, shared photos of their meeting and emphasized offering words of encouragement from the Bible, quoting Psalms 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
In another show of generosity, Bonfire Adventures continued to support Amos by providing him with a comprehensive four-day coastal trip, inclusive of flights and all-inclusive meals with an unlimited flow of drinks.
Initial reports about the canceled wedding had stirred public interest, prompting clarification from Nelly Chepkoech, the intended bride. She explained that the marriage permit remains valid until February. Nelly’s father, Rev Charles Kosgey, a pastor at Chebirbelek AGC in Sotik, clarified that the decision to postpone the wedding was influenced by the couple’s need for proper guidance and counseling during their courtship.
Breaking his silence on the matter, Amos Rono revealed that he decided to let go of the relationship after discovering that Nelly was currently involved with another man.
Expressing his disappointment, Rono shared that everything had been proceeding smoothly until the last day when Nelly informed the church leadership of her decision to cancel the wedding.
