Black Blues Brothers: Kenyan Acrobats Who Have Performed for Queen Elizabeth and Pope Francis

The Black Blues Brothers, a group of Kenyan acrobats, have built a reputation for themselves by demonstrating unusual feats that draw large crowds to their presentations in theaters.

The five-person group is well-known for mixing musical elements, a repertoire of human pyramids, stunts, somersaults and even physical virtuosity into its performances.

The Black Blues Brothers have lifted the Kenyan flag and placed the country on the global map by touring the world to entertain millions of people.

The Black Blues Brothers have entertained Queen Elizabeth, the Royal Family, Pope Francis and other dignitaries.

Their performances pay homage to the iconic 1980s film The Blues Brothers, showcasing strength, agility and comedic timing on stage.

The five honed their abilities at the Sarakasi Trust, a charity in Nairobi that primarily supports artists by providing them with essential tools for managing their careers and crafts.

“Sarakasi helps young people coming from difficult social situations to emancipate themselves through art and circus

“We learned the social impact of the circus on their life and decide to share these powerful instruments with other people,” they said.

To hone their skills, the trio practiced together for five years before touring the world to demonstrate them.

“The school taught us discipline, about being professional and punctual, working hard and respecting others. This isn’t a job for us – it’s a passion.

“Even when the five of us are fasting during Ramadan, we still perform with the same energy every night. We might lose a bit of weight, but the energy levels stay the same,” they added.

The Kenyan acrobats have already performed for almost a quarter of a million people on 500 dates in over 200 places throughout the world.
