The national under-20 women’s football, the Rising Starlets, head coach Beldine Odemba has named a total of 23 players in the squad that left on Thursday morning for Cameroon ahead of the first leg of the third round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier match against Cameroon, which is set to be played on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Starlets progressed to the third round after securing an impressive 10-1 aggregate victory over Angola.
Coach Odemba highlighted that there are no injuries in camp, and while the absence of eight players currently sitting for their KCSE exams is a noticeable loss, their replacements have stepped up, ensuring the team remains strong and competitive.
With an eye fixed on the fourth round, the Rising Starlets are determined to overcome their Cameroonian counterparts’ test.
An aggregate win for the Starlets over Cameroon will set up a fourth-round clash with the winner of the Congo-Egypt match.
Should the Rising Starlets emerge victorious in the fourth round, they will secure a coveted spot in the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to be hosted in Colombia.
