The Atheists in Kenya Society has called on the government to introduce a one-child policy to control Kenya’s population.
In a statement, the Society’s President, Harrison Mumia, argued that limiting families to having only one child will benefit future generations by reducing the competition for jobs and inevitably improving the unemployment rate.
“A decrease in the Kenyan population will lead to less competition among citizens for jobs and unemployment alleviated,” Mumia said.
The organisation added that a reduction in Kenya’s population will lead to less competition among citizens for jobs, and reduced unemployment.
“Too many births in Kenya is one of the reasons why we are experiencing economic hardship and backwardness,” Mumia added.
The organisation also reiterated that the population should be controlled to fight poverty in Kenya.
“Too many births in Kenya is one reason we are experiencing economic hardships and cultural backwardness. The population should be controlled to combat poverty in Kenya,” he said.
